New distribution agreement opens significant, fast-growing market for OrthoGrid’s expanding product portfolio
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, September 18, 2018 – OrthoGrid® Systems, Inc., a leading innovator of physician-assistive alignment technology for orthopedics, today announced the immediate distribution of its HipGrid® portfolio in Japan through the country’s publicly traded medical device innovator, Japan Medical Dynamic Marketing, Inc. (Japan MDM).
“The proliferation of Direct Anterior Approach Total Hip Arthroplasty has been a global phenomenon during the past decade, and OrthoGrid’s patented solutions deliver a ready-made and highly cost-effective intraoperative solution for Japanese physicians,” explained OrthoGrid CEO, Richard Boddington. “A significant proportion of the Japanese patient population may also present a unique clinical challenge due to the prevalence of Development Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH), so our company’s technology meets a clear need in the marketplace.”
Development Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH), or an atypical geometry of the femoral head and pelvic anatomy, is a common anatomical challenge for physicians treating Japanese patients. According to recent data from the Japan National Register1, nearly two-thirds of Japanese hip replacement patients demonstrated DDH2, and long-term clinical outcomes of total hip replacement patients with this diagnosis are dependent upon the intraoperative restoration of leg length and offset.
